Fourth Buddhist Studies Symposium, The Courtauld Institute of Art, London, June 11-14, 2018


The fourth Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Fellows’ Symposium in Buddhist Studies took place at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London on June 11-14, 2018. Eleven Fellows and ten senior scholars discussed the Fellows’ work in progress in a two-day intensive workshop, followed by individual consultations. The event stimulated new synergies among  three London institutions supported by the Foundation. The Courtauld offers, with funding from the Foundation, a two-year MA program in Buddhist Art. The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Galleries of Buddhist Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum invited workshop participants for a private tour led by John Clarke, the galleries’ curator. The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, which receives Foundation support for its programs, was the formal co-sponsor of the Symposium with the Courtauld Institute. Four mentors attending the workshop were SOAS faculty.
